- 1997: A Bulgarian National Observatory is founded with the support of the European Training Foundation (ETF);
- 1998: A Leonardo da Vinci National Agency is established;
- 1999: A National Resource Centre for Vocational Guidance is established with the support of the European Training Foundation;
- 1999: A Human Resource Development Centre is established under an agreement between the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy. It pools the above-mentioned activities and manages education programmes and projects;

2001 - 2007
- 2001: The Socrates National Agency joins the Human Resource Development Centre;
- 2003: The Bulgarian National Observatory, as part of the Human Resource Development Centre, joins the ReferNet European Network of Reference and Expertise in Vocational Education and Training under a contract with the European Training Foundation;
- Since 2005: The Human Resource Development Centre coordinates the Arion Programme jointly with the Ministry of Education and Science;
- 2006: A National Support Service for eTwinning is established within the Human Resource Development Centre;
- 2006: The Centre is certified under ISO 9001:2000 to manage European educational programmes;
- 2007: After a national nomination, the Human Resource Development Centre launches the management and implementation of the Lifelong Learning Programme 2007–2013 in Bulgaria;
- 2007: A National Europass Centre is established within the HRDC;
- 2007: The National Resource Centre for Vocational Guidance is renamed National Euroguidance Centre;
2011 - 2022 г.
- 2011: The Human Resource Development Centre launches the implementation of a project titled “National ECVET Experts 2011–2013” intended to promote the European Credit system for Vocational Education and Training (ECVET);
- 2014: The Human Resource Development Centre is nominated to manage Erasmus+, the largest European programme for education, training, youth and sport;
- 2018: The European Commission publishes a Proposal for a regulation laying down the legal framework of the European Solidarity Corps and the financing to be available to the Programme. The new Regulation enters into force on 5 October 2018. A budget totalling EUR 375.6 million is approved for the period 2018–2020. The closing date of the first calls for project proposals on all activities is 16 November 2018;
- In accordance with the next Multiannual Financial Framework 2021–2027, the budget of the Corps is set at EUR 1.26 billion. After the COVID-19 crisis, the revised proposal for the EU Multiannual Financial Framework 2021–2027, presented by the European Commission on 27 May 2020, is reduced by 20%.
