The Jean Monnet activities are aimed at promoting worldwide excellence in teaching and research in the field of European Union. The activities also promote the dialogue between the academic world and politicians, in particular with a view to improving the management of EU policies.

The European Union studies include the study of Europe as a whole, with particular attention to the process of European integration, both internally and externally. The discipline also covers the role of the EU in the globalised world and the promotion of active European citizenship and intercultural dialogue.

What are the expected outcomes?

For the participants, directly or indirectly:

• Increasing employability and improving the career prospects of young graduates by including or strengthening a European dimension in their specialties;
• Increased interest in understanding the European Union, leading to more active citizenship;
• Support for young researchers (who have received a PhD in the last five years) and professors wishing to conduct research and teaching on EU topics;
• Increasing the capacity of the academic staff in terms of professional and career development.

For participating organizations:

• Increased teaching and research capacity on EU topics;
• Increased allocation of financial resources for teaching and research on EU topics within the institution;
• More modern, dynamic, engaging and professional environment in the organization; readiness to integrate good practices and new EU actors into didactic programs and initiatives, openness to interaction with other organizations.

The Jean Monnet activities are centrally managed and implemented by the European Commission’s Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA).

The current application deadline is 22 February 2018, 13:00 Bulgarian time, for projects starting on 1 September 2018.
