ECVET
ECVET (European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training)
ECVET was created by the European Commission (EC) and is part of the Erasmus+ Programme. ECVET (European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training) is a general instrument of the overall strategic European framework for cooperation in the field of vocational education and training.
ECVET is a system for accumulation and transfer of credits acquired through vocational education and training (VET). It provides for the accumulation and transfer of credits in initial vocational training, allowing the documentation of knowledge, skills and competences acquired abroad as well as coherent forms of regulation between national and European participants in vocational education and training. The system aims to facilitate the recognition and accumulation of skills related to work and knowledge acquired during a stay in another country. ECVET also aims at better compatibility between the different vocational education and training systems in Europe and, last but not least, aims to give people greater control over their vocational education and training and to make mobility in different countries and learning environments more attractive.
In Bulgaria, the national coordinator of the team of ECVET national experts is the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC). It coordinates the overall implementation of the action, the work of the national ECVET experts, gathers information and disseminates it at European and national level. ECVET in HRDC is responsible for the promotion of the country’s activities, for the production of promotional materials and brochures, as well as for the organization of trainings, meetings and information events at the local level.
